We also train individuals in vibrant researches aimed at providing alternatives toward eradication of infectious diseases and manipulation of microorganisms to serve as useful agents in food production as well as providing food safety.

The Department operates within the philosophical stance of the University which is built "On those beliefs, values and traditions that the society holds most sacred". The Department offers two (2) undergraduate degree programmes: B.Sc. Applied Biology and BSc. Zoology.In addition, we offer Postgraduate courses in both the areas of specialization of the two (2) degrees. The Department is known to have the highest student population in the Faculty of Life Sciences.
